I've loved to draw for as long as I can remember. From the moment I could hold a pen I was sketching out characters and scenes from my imagination, taking inspiration from bedtime stories read to me by my mother and the pictures in them. Once I was a little older I started to work from life too, drawing friends, family and even the pet cat. Growing up on a farm in the beautiful Kent countryside meant I was never short of inspiration. After finishing school I went off to Kingston University in Surrey where I studied and gained a degree in Illustration. In the years since then I've worked on a wide range of commissions from educational children's books to portraits, hand painted children's furniture to logo design. Illustration will always be my first love, there's something amazing in the way a drawing or painting can bring a piece of writing to life. Artists who inspired me growing up include Edward Ardizzone who's exquisite pen and ink drawings and etchings always captured the emotion of a time and place, Quentin Blake, who's partnership with Roald Dahl was, in my opinion, a match made in Heaven, Arthur Rackham, with his ethereal watercolours of faerie folk and David McKee who's bright, bold, slightly naive illustrations always make me smile. I originally worked quite traditionally in pen, ink and watercolour, animals, monsters and fairytale characters are amongst my favourite things to paint. Since acquiring my wonderful drawing tablet I've started to work digitally and to develop other styles of illustration. I currently live in Dubai and have started working as a storyboard artist as well as learning the art of 2D animation.
